What are the different constructions?
A construction is a team-building template for one side of the ball (offense or defense) that sets how many players — and what quality level — the site expects at each role. You pick an offensive and defensive philosophy, then choose a construction and a depth profile that match how you want to build your roster.

How does my chosen construction affect my team?
Your construction shapes your roster grades, highlights which positions and roles you still need to fill, and feeds directly into draft planning. Your depth profile also sets expectations for your backups, not just your starters.

Which construction should I pick?
It depends on the identity you want your team to have. DYFO shows side-by-side scores and breakdowns for each construction so you can compare how they fit your current roster and your desired offensive or defensive philosophy before you commit.

Why use constructions?
Constructions turn "build a good roster" into a concrete checklist: they tell you exactly what a complete, competitive roster looks like at every position, so your evaluations, draft needs, and long-term planning all point in the same direction instead of relying on guesswork.
Can I make my own construction?
Right now you choose from the built-in construction library rather than building one completely from scratch — but the library covers a wide range of philosophies and depth profiles, and you can switch constructions any time your team's identity changes.
What do the construction scores on Scheme Setter mean?
On Scheme Setter, each construction and depth option is scored against your current roster using the roles the site has already assigned to your players. A higher score means more of your roster already fits that option's requirements; a lower score means you'd be starting further from a complete fit. The scores are a comparison tool for picking your six selections, not a hard pass/fail grade.
Roles and Tools
Every player has a job. Roles tell you who's actually right for theirs.
What are roles?
Roles are the functional slots on your roster — the specific jobs within your scheme — that turn a plain depth chart into a scheme-specific one. Which roles are active depends on your chosen offensive and defensive philosophy.

How do I assign roles?
The site can automatically assign roles for you as part of the season/draft workflow, and Role Center lets you review those assignments, move players between roles, and confirm the lineup yourself whenever you want more control.

How do roles affect my team?
Each player in a role is graded against what that role requires, and those role grades roll up into your construction scores, your overall roster evaluation, and the needs the site surfaces during the draft and free agency.

Why use roles?
Roles turn "who's my best player at a position" into "who's the right fit for this job in my scheme" — so you can spot a mismatched starter, a hidden weakness, or a valuable role player that a plain depth chart would miss.
Can I make my own roles?
The Workshop lets you customize your team's philosophy, construction, and depth setup, and choose among the available role sets those unlock — rather than inventing entirely new role definitions from scratch.

Can I plan which players I want to take with my picks?
Yes. Draft Planner shows your roster's fill gaps and calculated needs by position and role alongside your available picks and the prospect pool, and Draft Targets lets you build and prioritize your own board ahead of the draft.

How do I edit or change my draft picks?
Edit Draft Picks lets you review and confirm your full pick list — including picks you've traded for or away — before the draft begins, so your board always reflects the picks you actually control.

How do I use the draft hub?
The Draft Hub is where the live draft happens: it walks you through the draft pick-by-pick, shows your targets and remaining needs in context, and lets you make each selection as your picks come up.

How do I see my draft grades?
After the draft, Draft Grade, Draft Classes, and Draft Report Card let you submit and review grades for your class, with scouting-, value-, and performance-based reporting to help you judge how your draft actually turned out.

Resigning
Every re-signing is your call — with the cap math right in front of you.
Do I need to manually resign players on Dyfo?
Yes — re-signing is a decision you make, not something that happens automatically behind the scenes. You choose the player, the contract length, and the total dollars, then confirm the deal yourself.
How do I plan resignings?
The Re-signing Hub highlights which of your players are expiring and calls out the ones filling important roles or carrying notable development traits, alongside the role and need context to help you decide who to prioritize.

Can I see how different resignings will affect the Cap?
Cap Hub shows your current spending, remaining room, and the room you'd project to have back from expiring contracts, so you can weigh a re-signing decision against your actual cap situation before you commit to it.
